Optimum Design of Ceramic Spray Coating Evaluated in Terms of Intensity of Singular Stress Field

Abstract: Hearth rolls are the most important tools in continuous annealing line to produce thin steel sheet. Usually, the roll surface is coated by ceramics using thermal spraying. However, material mismatch and temperature change may cause thermal stress leading to the failure of the coating and deteriorating high adhesive strength and wears resistance. Therefore, it is very important to improve the debonding strength by optimizing the design of spray coating. The traditional method of evaluating the debonding strengt… Show more

“…The rolling force P, the rolling reaction force P h and the bending force P b are in a balanced relationship, but under the load condition of the referenced roll, 10) the bending force is small on the order of three orders of magnitude, and the rolling force ( = P × backup roll body length) and rolling reaction force ( = P h × strip width) are almost equal (P  P h ). Therefore, the rolling reaction force from the backup roll to the sleeve and the rolling reaction force from the strip to the sleeve are equal (P = P h ), and in als, [13][14][15][16] accurate analysis for test specimens, 17) complicated 3D structure analysis like bolts and nuts 18) have be done, and a lot of general-purpose FEM software programs have been developed. In this study, Marc/Mentat 2012 generalpurpose finite element analysis software is used and elastic contact analysis will be performed.…”

“…To obtain more general ISSF for evaluating interface strength, several analytical techniques were applied [21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28]. One of the most used numerical modelling techniques is the finite element method, which can be used for many engineering applications conveniently [29][30][31][32][33][34][35]. In order to obtain the ISSF, a mesh-independent technique was proposed for two-dimensional butt joints.…”
