Abstract:The airway epithelium lining the luminal surface of the respiratory tract creates a protective barrier that ensures maintenance of tissue homeostasis and prevention of respiratory diseases. The airway epithelium, unfortunately, is frequently injured by inhaled toxic materials, trauma, or medical procedures.
