Sexual harassment is widespread and prolific across the human race, mostly of females by males. It is a spectrum, from the worst of criminal behaviour (e.g. rape and murder of strangers, of women and girls) to what might be considered harmless playful banter between the sexes from later childhood and ever after. It does not occur in infancy, and appears to begin as a 'learned' phenomenon from later childhood. In his editorial, Isaacs considers sexual harassment occurring of women within our own profession, recognising that almost all examples of sexual harassment involve bullying, abuse of power and greater physical strength by males, often leading to emotional and/or physical harms.
