Examples occur in Scotland (Fujisaki et al, 2015), Costa Rica (Escuder-Viruete & Baumgartner, 2014), Sicily (Di Paolo et al, 2014), Chile (Glodny et al, 2005), Alaska (Gutscher, Kukowski, Malavieille, & Lallemand, 1998), California (Wakabayashi, 2017) and Japan (Hashimoto & Kimura, 1999;Ikesawa et al, 2005;Ueda, Yamamato, & Terabayashi, 2016;Wakita, 2012). The dislocations involved are considered to sole onto the subduction channel at their time of formation, to be intimately associated with subduction complex growth by underplating, and to involve displacements at a range of scales in some cases many kilometres.…”
