Abstract:Current evidence suggests that orexin-A modulates events related to neuronal plasticity such as cell proliferation, neurogenesis, and synaptogenesis. Activity-regulated cytoskeleton associated protein (Arc), is an immediate early gene (IEG) whose transcription and translation are induced by neural activity. The aim of this investigation was to determine whether orexin-A induces neurite outgrowth in SH-SY5Y dopaminergic cells. Furthermore, we will investigate the ability of orexin-A to modify Arc protein conten… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
