Orexin activated emergence from isoflurane anaesthesia involves excitation of ventral tegmental area dopaminergic neurones in rats

Abstract: Background: Orexin can facilitate emergence after general anaesthesia via multiple neural pathways. Dopaminergic neurones in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) participate in behavioural arousal from anaesthesia.
