Organic corrosion inhibitors for steel pipelines in oilfields

Abstract: N‐benzyl triethanol ammonium chloride (BTAC) and ethoxylated n‐benzyl triethanol ammonium chloride (EBTAC) were synthesized. The prepared compounds were characterized, then tested for their evaluation as corrosion inhibitors for steel pipelines in typical crude oil and residual fuel oil (RFO) media through weight loss determination. In addition, the surface properties of the investigated compounds were studied through surface tension measurements in a hydrocarbon system. Calculations of the surface and thermod… Show more

“…Recently, many surfactant compounds have shown an impressive inhibition efficiency as a corrosion inhibitor for protecting C-steel from corrosion in petroleum sector (Al-Sabagh et al , 1996). The main benefits of utilizing the surfactant materials in steel protection are their impressive inhibition efficiency, low toxicity and the easy routes for preparing the surfactant materials (Abd-El-Naby et al ., 2016).…”

“…Other acids form metal salts such as nitrates, phosphates and sulfates which are have very low solubility in water 3 . Lately, most of prepared surfactants are utilized as corrosion hindrance for C-steel in industry domain 4 . Surfactants are very good corrosion inhibitors due to their high inhibiting productivity, little toxicity, little price and easy production 5 .…”
