Organic field-effect transistor-based gas sensors

Abstract: Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are one of the key components of modern organic electronics. While the past several decades have witnessed huge successes in high-performance OFETs, their sophisticated functionalization with regard to the responses towards external stimulations has also aroused increasing attention and become an important field of general concern. This is promoted by the inherent merits of organic semiconductors, including considerable variety in molecular design, low cost, light weigh… Show more

“…Organic nanomaterials have been widely used in the fabrication of electronic devices over the last few decades, such as organic field-effect transistors (OFET) [1], organic photovoltaics (OPV) [2] and sensors [3]. These extensive application prospects require a proper understanding of the effect of fundamental aspects in crystal structure, such as molecular packing motifs and molecular orbital overlap, on the performance of organic electronic devices.…”

“…Instrum. 88, 103901 (2017) in the context of solvent annealing microstructural transformations, 29 organic semiconductor (OSC)-based sensors, 30 and OPV stability. 31 One frequently used molecule is bathophenanthroline (BPhen), which is typically used as a buffer or doped electron transport layer between the active layer organic absorber/emitter and the evaporated metal cathode, composed of materials such as aluminium.…”

“…Another compelling application of OFET is chemical and biological sensing [7][8][9][10][11][12]. Sensors based on OFETs can be low-weight, low-cost, flexible, and miniaturized [13][14][15][16][17][18].…”
