“…For example, the various CRY proteins that are expressed continuously and ubiquitously in some Bt crops may negatively impact health. Since HT GMO crops are sprayed with Roundup ® or other glyphosate-based herbicides during the growing season, and therefore often contain higher concentrations of glyphosate residues [35,36,37,38], the herbicide (glyphosate and/or other ingredients, see [33,34]), rather than the genetic manipulation, could cause the negative effects of a GMO-containing diet on animals.…”

“…Concerning the total polyphenols detected in lemon, our study revealed a significant difference at p < 0.05 between organic and conventional, where the level in conventional lemon (139.17 mg GAE/g DM) exhibited higher values than organic lemon (113.3 mg GAE/g DM). This result could be explained by the lower levels of pesticide contamination recorded in conventional (22%) than organic samples (33.33%) because, in the presence of low pesticides level, a plant exposure to stressful conditions due to insect attack and fungal infection, triggers natural defenses mechanism by biotic and abiotic stress, contributing to phenolic compounds accumulation (Winter and Davis, 2006). Moreover, the level of flavonoid detected in conventional lemon (32.51 mg catechin/g DM) was higher than organic one (29.37 mg catechin/g DM) with no significance.…”

“…All these health harms induced an increased public concern to change its way of consumption: consume better food quality. This change helped emerge organic farming practices, which would help us control the problems related to the use of unnecessary chemical substances affecting people's health (Brandi et al, 2017).…”

“…Organic production and organic food are very important from medicinal and ecological points of view. Organic food has been shown to have many health benefits with wide variability (Rock et al, 2017).…”
