Organo-metal halide perovskite-based solar cells with CuSCN as the inorganic hole selective contact

Abstract: CuSCN is proposed as a cost-competitive hole selective contact for the emerging organo-metal halide perovskite-based solar cells. The CuSCN films have been deposited by a solution casting technique, which has proven to be compatible with the perovskite films, obtaining planar-like heterojunction-based glass/FTO/TiO 2 /CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3Àx Cl x /CuSCN/Au solar cells with a power conversion efficiency of 6.4%.Among the photovoltaic parameters, the fill factor (i.e. 62%) suggests good carrier selectivity and, theref… Show more

“…13,14 Precisely, the use of new materials or modifications as HTM is a very large field to be explored. It has been demonstrated the effective use of solution-processable inorganic HTM as CuI 15 and CuSCN, 16,17 reporting efficiencies as high as 12.4%. 17 Nevertheless the most extended HTM employed in PSCs are organic wherein the organic synthesis of conductive polymers or new molecules used as additives has a fundamental role.…”

“…Over the last few years, solar cells based on organicinorganic hybrid semiconductor materials with perovskite structure as light absorbers have been quickly progressing due to their excellent photovoltaic performance [1][2][3]. Perovskites were first utilized in dye sensitized solar cells with the perovskite being a replacement sensitizer for the standard molecular dyes.…”

“…6,7 Since then, numerous research groups have focused their efforts on the development of different approaches to optimize this eld, mainly based on the use of different cell congurations (TiO 2 or Al 2 O 3 scaffolds or planar congurations with no scaffold), use of mixed halide (Br-I) derivatives of CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 , [8][9][10] exchange of the organic cation CH 3 NH 3 + , [11][12][13][14] use of additives in the HTM 15,16 or use of different selective contacts. [17][18][19][20] In addition, high efficiency samples have been obtained from a broad variety of deposition techniques, including spin-coating 6,7 two step procedures involving dip-coating 21 or drop casting methods 22 and solvent engineering strategies.…”
