Organoaluminum(iii) complexes of the bis-N,N′-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazolin-2-imine ligand

Abstract: Trimethylaluminum reacts with bis-N,N′-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazolin-2-imine to form a number of new organoaluminum complexes.

“…The isolation of a carbene-stabilised phosphorus mononitride, 27 monomeric phosphinyl radical, 28 singlet phosphinonitrene, 29 its protonated derivative 30 and metal complexes was reported by Bertrand et al 31 The further utilisation of this ligand to stabilise several group 13- and group 16-metal ions was demonstrated by Inoue 32–36 and Rivard. 37,38 However, aluminium alkyl complexes with the imidiazoline-2-iminato ligand were only recently studied by the research groups of Inoue, 35,36 Masuda 39 and Eisen. 40 …”

“…15 Catalytic hydroboration of alkynes has also been expanded to more simple aluminum catalysts, such as (iBu 2 AlH) 2 and AlEt 3 -based molecules. 16 We have had a long-standing interest in the reactivity of main group compounds, [17][18][19][20][21][22][23] including organoaluminum and aluminum-hydride chemistry, 17,24,25 and continue to be interested in the reactivity of sterically bulky aluminum hydrides. With the previously mentioned aluminum-based catalysis reactions in mind, we report the reactivity of aluminum b-diketiminato dihydride, L-AlH 2 (ref.…”
