Organoplatinum(IV) Complexes with Hydrogen Bonds:  From Monomers to Polymers

Abstract: A series of organoplatinum(IV) complexes has been prepared, in which one of the alkyl groups contains a functional group that is capable of taking part in hydrogen bonding. These complexes are formed by oxidative addition of reagents RCH 2 X to [PtMe 2 (bu 2 bipy)] (1; bu 2bipy ) 4,4′-di-tert-butyl-2,2′-bipyridine) and have the formulaThese complexes may form dimers through OH‚‚‚O or NH‚‚‚O hydrogen bonding or polymers through NH‚‚‚X hydrogen bonding. Further derivatives were prepared by reaction of the above … Show more

“…The remaining coordination site is occupied by the chloro ligand. 3), which fulfill the geometric parameters given in the literature, [30][31][32][33] were found. The Pd-N bond lengths (1.995(5)-2.047(6) Å) are shorter than those found in palladium complexes with edta tetra-alkyl ester ligands (2.098(4)-2.106(7) Å).…”

“…Indeed, there is a considerable amount of both intra-and intermolecular interactions within the two molecules of (c) ( Table 3). Hydrogen bonding has been used recently to control molecules and ions in the solid state for applications in crystal engineering and supramolecular synthesis [23][24][25].…”

“…Molecules are also linked by weak Pt(1)···N(8′) (3.561 Å) and Cl(1)···Pt(1′) (3.794 Å) interactions. Hydrogen bonding has been used recently to self-assemble related organometallic platinum complexes (41).…”
