Origami and GeoGebra Activities Contribute to Geometric Thinking in Second Graders

Abstract: This article describes the beneficial effects of an intervention program, based on the computerized Origametria program and the GeoGebra environment, for acquiring geometric concepts in the second grade. Eighty-eight second-graders, from both Hebrew-speaking and Arabic-speaking schools, were instructed in groups by eighteen Hebrew and Arabic-speaking college students, respectively. The groups met for twenty-three 45-minute sessions throughout the schoolyear, undergoing different activities in Origametria and G… Show more

“…In addition, the use of multimedia can affect spatial abilities (Heo & Toomey, 2019). Some of the media that are often used in learning geometry are tangram (Bergstrom & Zhang, 2016;Moursund, 2007), geoboard (Mudaly & Sibiya, 2018;Trimurtini, Safitri, Sari, & Nugraheni, 2020), android-based media (Bektiningsih, Nugraheni, & Sari, 2020), geogebra (Başara, 2020;Klemer & Rapoport, 2020;Topuz & Birgin, 2020) electronic module (Suastika & Wahyuningtyas, 2020), augmented (İbili, Çat, Resnyansky, Şahin, & Billinghurst, 2019) and virtual reality-based media (Gecu-parmaksiz & Delialioglu, 2019).…”

Previous studies show that implementing GeoGebra can increase students' analytical ability and activeness in learning mathematics (Hermuttaqien et al, 2019;Kholid et al, 2022;Kllogjeri, 2010;Kristanto et al, 2016a;Septian et al, 2019;Yamin et al, 2020).…”
