Origin and abatement of tonal emission from high voltage transmission lines

Abstract: The origin of the Iocally unacceptable and intensive tonal 2f = 100 Hz emission from overhead high voltage lines has been clearly traced by means of multiple diagnostics applied to a model line in the laboratory, Use of a special hydrophilic surface preparation has demonstrated a significant reduction of tonal acoustic noise emission after heavy rain.
