“…There are only two descriptions of OFMT in cytology literature to date. 7,8 The FNA cytology in the index case is almost exactly similar to those reported earlier. All the cases showed moderate to high cellularity and fibrillar dense matrix material, with small clusters and singly dispersed uniform neoplastic cells floating within.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, only one case of ordinary (benign) OFMT and one case of malignant variant of OFMT have been illustrated in the cytology literature. 7,8 Herein we report a case of ossifying fibromyxoid tumor of soft tissue with special emphasis on cytomophologic features.…”

“…1,6,7 Its cytomorphologic features have rarely been reported, however. 8,9 This is the first report on fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology of the malignant variant of OFMT; it occurred in a 70-year-old man.…”

“…8 FNA smears (Giemsa stain) show fine fibrillary, pink matrix and moderate cellularity containing slightly pleomorphic, small to medium-sized, round to oval cells with fine chromatin, arrayed in small groups occasionally forming rosettelike structures. 9 The FNA cytologic findings of OFMT provide the first study of the cytologic appearance of the malignant variant. FNA smears were cellular, showing loosely cohesive clusters and a cordlike arrangement as well as a large number of singly dispersed tumor cells, with scattered, dense stromal fragments and a slightly myxoid background.…”

“…[35] Cytological features of four cases have been reported. [69] We present a further case evaluated during an intraoperative consultation. It is our experience that cytological findings coupled with characteristic peripheral ossification seen on image studies or macroscopically may lead to suspect this peculiar neoplasm.…”
