Abstract:Osteomyelitis is by definition any infection of the bone. It can have a hematogenous or non-hematogenous mechanism of infection, but comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and the presence of orthopedic hardware can increase the risk of osteomyelitis.
