Ostromislensky Process

Abstract: The manufacturing of 1,3‐butadiene from ethanol, involving the dehydrogenation of ethanol to acetaldehyde and the deoxygenation of crotonaldehyde is generally referred to as the Ostromislensky process or Ostromislensky reaction. This reaction is two‐steps process, where the conversion of acetaldehyde into crotonaldehyde is the most crucial step.
