leukocytes were counted and stained at the time of the severe episode, few had values of less than 15,000/cu mm of blood, and the eosinophils in most instances were absent. Such elevated leukocyte values associated with an in¬ crease in neutrophils may represent the presence of an infection, but they are also noted after heavy muscular work.Asthma can be a lethal disease. It would be¬ hoove all of us who treat children having asthma to review our own methods of treatment carefully so that the lethality may be kept at a minimum.
