Outage Performance Analysis of Full-Duplex Relay-Assisted Device-to-Device Systems in Uplink Cellular Networks

Abstract: This paper proposes a full-duplex cooperative device-to-device (D2D) communication system, where the relay employed can receive and transmit signals simultaneously. We adopt such a system to assist with D2D transmission. We first derive the conditional cumulative distribution function (CDF) and the probability density function (PDF) of a series of channel parameters when the interference to the base station (BS) is taken into consideration and power control is applied at the D2D transmitter and the relay node.… Show more

“…Proof: See Appendix in [12]. Lemma 2: For bounded x > 0, if f (x) is a quasi-concave function with respect to x, then t(x) = log 2 (1 + f (x)) will also be a quasi-concave function with respect to x.…”

“…Zheng et al [11] proposed a scheme that allows D2D communications to underlay a cellular network through FD relaying. In [12], an outage performance analysis of FD relay-assisted D2D systems in a cellular network was provided.…”

“…Then the CDF and PDF of B can be obtained as (12) at the top of the next page, where for brevity and ease of exposition, we let t = |h i,i+1 | 2 in (a) and the PDF of t is e −t , and (b) holds for the probability generating functional, and…”

“…Furthermore, the path-loss attenuation can be expressed by l i,j = d −α ij where α is the standard path loss exponent and d ij is the distance between the transmitter i and the receiver j. Considering an interference limited system as in [10], [11], i.e., the receiver noise is negligible, the instantaneous Signal-to-Interference ratios (SIRs) of the CUE, of the first D2D user (D1) and of the second D2D user (D2) can be respectively expressed as:…”

“…Thus, the D2D users must switch to the HD mode. Now in order to investigate the rates in the remaining regions we derived the limits of R D1 , R D2 , R HD D1 , and R HD D2 , which are respectively defined in (10) and (14), as follows:…”
