Outage Performance of Cognitive Relay Networks with Interference from Primary User

Abstract: Cognitive relay networks employ cooperative relaying scheme in the cognitive secondary user transmission. In this letter, we theoretically derive a closed form expression and a lower bound of the outage performance for underlay cognitive relay networks considering the interference from the primary transmitter to the secondary receiver, the interference from the secondary transmitter to the primary receiver and the dependence introduced due to the interference power constraint. It is shown from simulation resul… Show more

“…In [16], considering the interference power constraint, a tight lower bound and an exact outage probability (OP) are derived for decode-and-forward (DF) underlay cognitive relay network. Recently the effects of PU interference on the secondary AF and DF cognitive radio networks have been investigated in [17][18][19]. In [17][18][19] authors, considered the effect of a single PU on the performance of SU, our present work considers the impact of multiple PUs.…”

“…In [15], the authors have studied the capacity of the secondary users in cognitive relay networks, and proved that the reactive DF scheme is able to achieve the similar capacity of the proactive DF scheme. The performances of the secondary users in cognitive relay networks with the consideration of the primary users' interference have been analyzed in [16][17][18]. Especially, the authors of [17] have considered the outage performances of the primary and secondary systems on the condition that there exists a direct link between the secondary users.…”

“…Under the condition of keeping the normal transmissions of primary users, the performance of secondary system was ameliorated in [17][18][19][20]. In [21], a relay-assisted scheme was studied, where the relay helped the transmissions of the secondary users, considering interference from primary users. Cooperation diversity technology is able to reduce the effects of fading on signals in wireless communications, and relay selection can improve the achievable rate and reduce the sensitivity of channels at the destination node.…”
