Abstract:machine perfusion may also result in better 1-year graft survival. [7,8] top of that, a novel strategy that leads to defatting the graft during long-term ex situ normothermic machine perfusion has been proposed and may help rescue discarded livers for transplantation. [9] Although we need more studies to investigate if these techniques are effective and safe, hopefully, in the near future, machine perfusion will allow increased transplantation of currently unused steatotic grafts.
