Overlooked impact of surface hydroxylation on the solubility of less-soluble compounds: a case study of CeO2

Abstract: CeO2 surface is crucial for dissolution process. Untreated nanoparticles are more soluble than dried ones due to their hydrated state. Dried CeO2 solubility increases as the surface returns to a hydrated state, ensuring long-term stability.
