“…on a continuous basis and can influence carers' well-being, creating what is referred to as "caregiver burden" (George and Gwyther, 1986). High levels of burden are associated with depression (Riedel et al, 2016) and higher mortality rates (Schulz and Beach, 1999) in carers and also poorer care for the PWD (Brodaty et al, 1993). In order for health and social care interventions to be implemented to reduce burden it is imperative that the construct is adequately measured.…”

[494][495][496][497] Ongoing efforts have attempted to integrate innovative care management practices with traditional primary care for people with dementia.…”

“…Furthermore, previous studies indicate that caregivers of PwD demonstrate higher levels of unmet needs as well as lower levels of service utilization and lower identification rates of unmet needs by professionals compared to other family caregivers, which hamper family dementia caregivers’ physical and mental health [7]. For example, a recent study showed that medical practitioners underestimate physical and psychological conditions of dementia family caregivers at a doctor’s visit [8]. One third of caregivers with serious mental disorders was overlooked by physicians.…”
