Oxidative Study of Benzaldehyde by Isoqauinolinium Bromo Chromate

Abstract: The kinetics analysis of the oxidative reaction between benzaldehyde and oxidant is quinolinium Bromo chromate was reported in aqueous 40% acetic acid medium at 313 K. The rate of reaction varies first-power of [IQBC] and [H2SO4], whereas fractional-order kinetics was observed for benzaldehyde. The rate constant gradually increases with decrease in dielectric constant of the medium. The neutral salt does not alter the rate. The metal cations (Cu++) slightly accelerate the rate of oxidation when added to reacti… Show more

“…Þ-bromo mandelic acid is a industrially important organic compound from the synthetic and technological point of view especially valuable for biochemical processes. It is well established that Þbromo mandelic acid owing to presence of bifunctional groups [1,2] (-CHOH and -COOH) show variety of network of oxidation reactions. The available review of literature reveals that ambiguity always persists in way of participation of Þ-bromo mandelic acid in reaction even with the same oxidant, DOI: 10.24214/IJGHC/GC/10/4/38793.…”
