“…β-Glucuronidase from Escherichia coli (140 U/mg, Millipore-Sigma, St. Louis, MO) and sulfatase from Helix pomatia (200 units/mL, Millipore-Sigma, St. Louis, MO) were stored at 4 °C in a dark environment. 1,2- and 5,6-Quinones of chrysene (CHQ) were synthesized photochemically as described in Tiruye and Jørgensen, while 1,2-catechol (CAT) of chrysene was synthesized by the reduction of 1,2-quinone using NaBH 4 based on the methods of Platt and Oesch and by photochemical cyclization of the corresponding 1,2-dimethoxy stilbene (detailed description in the Supporting Information).
