Oxygen and Osmium—A New Alliance for Dihydroxylations?

Abstract: The activation of oxygen in new synthetic procedures dramatically expands the scope of osmium-catalyzed dihydroxylations [Eq. (1)]. Even air can now be used as the cooxidant in the asymmetric version of this reaction with little loss of selectivity.
