Abstract:Platinum group metals (PGMs) are used as oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) electrocatalysts at cathodes in polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). For mass-production of PEFCs, ORR electrocatalysts with high catalytic activity and low amounts of expensive PGMs should be developed. Alloying Pt with other metals such as Ni reduces Pt amounts used and enhances ORR catalytic activity, caused by the lattice strain and ligand effects [1, 2]. Pt-Ni alloy nanoparticles are usually prepared by wet chemical methods using … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
