P‐107: The Fastest Response TN‐Type TFT LCD of the World Likes OCB Level

Abstract: Nowadays, RT and MPRT become a very important factor to judge image quality. We have developed fastest response time and motion picture response time TFT LCD of the world for image quality request. Our panel can reach RT 2ms and gray to gray RT avg. below 2ms. We also combine the fastest cell and advanced over-drive system to make MPRT be 4ms.

“…For passive driving, the response time is determined by the polarization rotator. A thin TN polarization rotator can have a response time of 2 ms [41], while a ferroelectric polarization rotator usually has a response time of around 0.1 ms [42]. The major di erence is that TN is a broadband polarization rotator.…”

“…In order to display more continuous 3D scenes, various fast‐response LC devices have been proposed to act as the tunable devices in AR displays. For example, a thin‐cell TN device with response time of approximately 2 ms has been used in polarization multiplexing multiplane AR displays as a broadband polarization rotator . Wu et al used a tunable PB LC lens that can achieve a response time as fast as 0.7 ms in their AR display system .…”

“…To achieve wide view while maintaining high transmittance, another option is to use single-domain VA with directional backlight and a diffusive element [16]. [17]. The rise time is 0.66 ms and the decay time is 2.04 ms. With overdrive scheme, the average gray-to-gray response time is 1.95 ms. With such fast response time, the MPRT is comparable to the limiting MPRT (W = 0), as shown in Fig.…”
