P‐138: Fringe‐Field Effect of Ferroelectric Liquid‐Crystal Study Using Electrode Pattern for High Pixel Density Displays

Abstract: An ITO pattern with variable electrode gap is used to study the fringe-field-effect for the ferroelectric liquid crystals. The pixel expansion and disclination line due to the fringe-field-effect for FLC panel are found to be least significant in comparison to the nematic LCs. The electro-optical performance shows good contrast, fast response ~ 100 s and little fringe field effect.
