P‐64: Formation of Barrier Ribs for PDP by Micro‐Injection Molding Route

Abstract

In this study, micro‐injection molding process was used in fabricating barrier ribs for the plasma display panels. A paste consisted of ceramic powders for the barrier ribs, binder, hardener, and dispersant was filled into cavities of a polymeric mold by an external pressure. Effects of ceramic powder and curing agent contents, diluent type and content on the viscosity of paste were investigated in order to increase the powder content in the paste. By optimizing the compositions of the paste, the micro‐injection molding pressure could be decreased to approximately 1.5 kgf/cm2 and defect free ribs were formed. The results demonstrated that the micro‐injection molding route is capable of producing barrier ribs of fine pitch.
