P‐97: Optical Configuration of VR Systems for Slim and Light Head Mounted Displays

Abstract: In this paper, we proposed a new optical configuration achieving slim VR system by enlarging optical path length of light from the display surface in VR systems. Half mirror and polarization selective mirror are used as two mirror surfaces in order to enlarge the optical paths. By stacking the optical layers on the display panel, we obtained VR system having 1/3 slimmer thickness compared with conventional VR system.
