p23-FKBP51 chaperone complex regulates tau aggregation

Abstract: The pathological deposition of tau into insoluble amyloid fibrils is a pathological hallmark of tauopathies. Molecular chaperones are important cellular factors contributing to the regulation of tau misfolding and aggregation. Here we reveal an Hsp90-independent modulation of tau aggregation by a molecular complex of the two Hsp90 co-chaperones p23 and FKBP51.
