Packet level video quality evaluation of extensive H.264/AVC and SVC transmission simulation

Abstract: Video transmission over error prone channels as present in most of today's communication channels, such as Mobile TV or some IPTV systems, is constantly subject to research. Simulation is an important instrument to evaluate performance of the overall video transmission system, but the multitude of parameters often requires large and time-consuming simulation sets. In this paper, we present a packet level mechanism for fast evaluation of error-prone H.264/AVC and SVC video transmission with application layer vi… Show more

“…There are other approaches different to objective metrics. Singh et al (2011) Similarly, Skupin et al (2011) propose a packet level analysis of SVC stream through a new metric, PLVQE, to speed up large simulations. The QoE values of sample sequences are recorded in a database.…”

“…America-USA, CTI-Greece, and from universities such as UC Davis-University of California-USA, Kumamoto university-Japan, Lisbon University InstitutePortugal, ITS Surabaya and Universitas Nusa CendanaIndonesia. We have received quite a high citation by quality external research works such as [8], [9], [10], [11], [12] as well as our college's research works such as [13], [14], [15], [16]. Regretting of not having enough resources to fully support the public's concerns about the EvalSVC platform, the first contribution of this paper is to give a full and detailed descriptions of this tool-set so that people can handle EvalSVC, integrate it into their research work, enrich it upon their needs and requirements to make it a real community's platform for researchers and developers of SVC-based multimedia services.…”
