Padronização da produção de biocurativos Dérmo-Epidérmicos de Quitosana, Xantana e Beta-Glucana

Abstract

The skin, the most extensive organ of the human organism, can be affected by the most diverse types of injury, such as burns, severe abrasions and ulcerations, which often require therapeutic interventions. Conventional dressings act only as passive coverage of the lesion, isolating it from the external environment. Research carried out previously obtained membranes through the complexation of the chitosan and xanthan polymers with excellent performance when applied as dermal dressings, presenting physical-chemical and biological characteristics suitable for this purpose. However, ideally, a dressing should not only protect the injury, but also promote the healing process. Since β-glucan has an anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and anti-mutagenic action, in addition to its protective effect against infections, it has been proposed to add this polymer to the formulation of these membranes, seeking, in addition to simply covering the lesion to prevent and control bacterial infections, thus promoting the acceleration of the healing process. Therefore, different membrane formulations were tested for the development of bioactive dermal dressings of chitosanxanthan-β-glucan. The results obtained show that, of the tested formulations, 3 showed promise for the continuity of physical-chemical, biological and in-vivo tests.
