“…Higher concentrations of ∑cPAHs were found in fish at high trophic levels, such as snakeheads and sturgeons, wileyonlinelibrary.com/ETC © 2019 SETAC Contribution of PAHs via aquaculture product consumption-Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2019;38:1084-1092 indicating different dietary compositions compared with crab, prawn, and shellfish. The ∑cPAH concentrations in the present study were higher than those in fish from an Atlantic estuary (0.90-84 ng/g dry wt) investigated by Oliva et al (2017) and from the remote upstream area of the Yangtze River (1.2-2.4 ng/g dry wt) measured by Wang et al (2016).…”

“…Marine fishes of Persian gulfs and various types of seafood in the coastal areas of Bangladesh contains a higher amount of PCBs [62]. Further, fish samples of the black sea, Bulgaria [63], local feral fish in three Gorges River, China [64], and fishes obtained from Korean markets [65] were reported to contain a toxic amount of PCBs. To evaluate contamination by PCBs in a tropical bay exposed to different anthropogenic pressures, samples of bivalves: clams (Anomalocardia brasiliana), mangrove mussel (Mytella guyanensis), and mangrove oyster (Crassotrea rhizophorae), were collected from different parts of Brazil, Bahia, Todos os Santos Bay, and the results showed that highest concentrations of PCBs being detected in mangrove oyster, followed by clams and mangrove mussel [66].…”

“…The mussels accumulated hydrophobic pollutants through ingestion. The lipids of mussels are also an important factor for the bioaccumulation of PAHs [32]. Higher percentages of the 4-ring PAHs were found in the mussels.…”
