“…The content of CO 2 in the atmosphere increased, and numerous greenschist series, etc., appeared. The vertical growth of continental crust terminated in the Paleoproterozoic (Abbott and Isley, 2002a,b;Bogatikov et al, 2010;Condie, 1998Condie, , 2002Condie et al, 2001;Glukhovskii, 1990;Glukhovsky, 2009;Kumazava et al, 1994;Markov and Fedorovskii, 1986;Mitrofanov, 2009;Mitrofanov and Bayanova, 2013;Pirajno, 2002Pirajno, , 2007Sharkov, 2004;Sorokhtin and Ushakov, 1991).…”

“…The time from 2.7 to 1.7 Ga coincided with the subsequent mass asteroid bombardment of the Earth and with a catastrophic increase in the Moon-Earth distance (from 29 ± 2 to 50 ± 3 Earth's radii) at 2.0 ± 0.4 Ga. All that reduced the velocity of the planet's axial rotation. That was the era of processes of thermotectogenesis related to mantle plumes, which were superposed on the consolidated older structure of the Earth (Glukhovsky, 2009). That time was characterized by widespread rifting and emplacement of high-Mg mafic dikes and layered ultramafic-mafic intrusions with related ore systems.…”
