Abstract:An efficient palladium‐catalysed ortho C‐H acyloxylation of azobenzenes, allowing the introduction of the difunctionalised substituent, diethyl phosphonoacetate, is reported. Thanks to the mild reaction conditions implemented, this regioselective late‐stage ortho‐functionalisation tolerates a wide range of functional groups and permits the access of diversely substituted azobenzenes in good to excellent yields. Selective hydrolysis of the diethyl phosphonate group leads to stable water‐soluble azo‐photoswitche… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
