1IntroductionAmino acids play centralr oles both as building blocks of proteins and as intermediates in metabolism and the development of new technologies for their sensitiveand universal quantitative determinationa re of great interest [1][2][3].M ethionine (2-amino-4-(methylthio)butanoic acid) is an essential amino acid with an important role in biological methylation reactions.M ethionine is as ource of sulphur in the body as it is the precursoro fo ther sulphur amino acids such as cysteine,t aurine and glutathione and it is am ethyl donor essential for the formation of DNA and RNA, helped by the action of cofactors such as vitamins B 6 ,B 12 ,c holine,f olic acid and magnesium. Methionine is important in the formation of blood proteins, globulins and albumins helping in the breakdown of lipids and acting as chelates for heavy metals assisting their removal from body.M ethionine helps to reduce cholesterol level by increasing lecithin production in liver and is also essential for humang rowth [4].I th as been reported that improper conversion of methionine leads to atherosclerosis [5].M ethionine deficiencies have been attributedt o toxaemia, muscle paralysis,h air loss,d epression, schizophrenia, Parkinsons disease,l iverd eterioration and impaired growth [6].S ince methionine cannot be synthesized in the body it must be obtained from foods upplies and pharmaceutical supplements are commercially available.H ence,t he determination of methionine is very importanti nt he clinical point of view.S everal analytical techniques have been reported for the analysis of methionine and its metabolites in pharmaceutical formulations, biological fluidsand tissues [7][8][9][10][11][12].Tr yptophan is one of the essential amino acids in protein biosynthesis of living organisms. It is av ital constituent of proteins and indispensable in human nutrition for establishinga nd maintainingapositive nitrogen balance [13].T ryptophan is also ap recursor of the neurotransmitter serotonin.S erotonin availability in the brain depends on blood tryptophanl evels,w hich can modulate the psychoneural controlo fs pontaneous alternation through presynaptic inhibition of hippocampal cholinergic terminals [14,15].S o, it is necessary to develop as imple,a ccurate,r apid and inexpensivem ethod for the determination of tryptophani nf ood processing, biological fluids, pharmaceuticals and clinical analysis.D ifferent methodsh ave been developed for the determinationo ft ryptophan [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24].Electroanalytical methods have attracted more attention in recent yearsf or the determination of analytes due Abstract:Z nS/ZnAl 2 S 4 nanocomposite and 2-chlorobenzoyl ferrocene,w ere synthesized and used to construct am odified carbon paste electrode.T he electrooxidation of methionine at the surface of the modified electrode was studied. Under the optimized conditions,t he square wave voltammetric (SWV) peak current of methionine increasedl inearly with methionine concentration in the range of 5.0 10 À8 to 8.0 10 À4 Ma nd detection...
