Abstract: Clostridium scindensis a commensal gut bacterium capable of forming the secondary bile acids deoxycholic acid and lithocholic acid from the primary bile acids cholic acid and chenodeoxycholic acid, respectively, as well as converting glucocorticoids to androgens.
