Parallel in time dynamics with quantum annealers

Abstract: Recent years have witnessed an unprecedented increase in experiments and hybrid simulations involving quantum computers. in particular, quantum annealers. there exist a plethora of algorithms promising to outperform classical computers in the near-term future. Here, we propose a parallel in time approach to simulate dynamical systems designed to be executed already on present-day quantum annealers. in essence, purely classical methods for solving dynamics systems are serial. therefore, their parallelization is… Show more

“…1 of Ref. [72]. In that work, a similar method was used to observe Rabi oscillations by using the previous two generations of D-Wave annealers, the original 2000Q (released in 2017) and the low-noise 2000Q (released in 2019).…”

“…The authors of Ref. [72] used those machines to attain 5 time values and 6 time values respectively in their Rabi oscillation computations. Our study has used the newer Advantage hardware (released in 2020) to attain 12 time values in Fig.…”

“…A part of this problem will likely be eliminated simply by the technological development of the new annealer. For an intuitive justification, we refer to [85] and Fig. 1 therein, in which an improvement in the performance between subsequent iterations within one generation of Chimera-based quantum annealers was observed.…”
