“…Although these limitations can be overcome via the sliding process, which was introduced by sliding ECA (ECA-S) [34], the computational burden is more severe as the total Flops increase sharply with the batch number. ECA-expectation (ECA-E) and its simplified version (ECA-ES) [35] were developed for better real-time performance via more radical segmentation, making batch-level parallel computing implementable. However, as mentioned later, the constant weight limits the notch width formed via ECA-E (S), and the moving clutters need to be rejected by other algorithms, such as ECA-B.…”

“…Adaptive filter is of low convergence speed; however, ECA [18] (extensive cancellation algorithm) covers its deficiency. In recent years, many algorithms around ECA have been proposed, such as ECA-S (ECA-sliding) [19], ECA-ES (ECA-expectation simplified) [20] and so on. In sub-carrier domain, algorithms only work in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing-based PBR, such as RLS-C (recursive least square by sub-carrier) [21], ECA-C (ECA by carrier) [22], ECA-CD (ECA by carrier and doppler shift) [23] and so on.…”

“…F REQUENCY-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) phased-array radar is widely used for automotive applications such as intelligent cruise control and collision warning/avoidance because it can provide information on the distance and velocity of multiple targets and estimate their azimuth and elevation angles [1], [2]. Due to the simultaneous transmission and reception at the same frequency, however, its performance significantly suffers from strong multipath self-interference (SI), including the direct-path component and the clutter-path components reflected by environmental objects both with shared antennas and separate antennas [3]- [6]. In general, the SI signal is much stronger than the echo signal reflected from the target, the sidelobes of which are strongly coupled in range and Doppler in the application of the matched filter technique, thereby affecting the correct reception of the echo signal and, more importantly, saturating the low noise amplifier of the receiver [4].…”
