Parameter and Speed Estimation for Implementing Low Speed Sensorless PMSM Drive System Based on an Algebraic Method

Abstract: This paper presents a sensorless control scheme for a surface-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous machine (SM-PMSM) using the high frequency voltage signal injection method. The reactances of the high frequency model vary as a function of rotor position and a simple method based on measured high frequency currents and voltages is used to identify these reactances. Using such motor reactances, rotor position and velocity can be estimated. The proposed method is algebraic and does not require accurate knowledge… Show more

“…(13) Lemma: When the stator current error system is described as (5), and the sliding mode surface is designed as (10), the current error s i will converge to zero in finite time with the control law designed as the (11), (12), and (13). Proof: Differentiating s with respect to time, it gets ( )…”

“…In this field, researchers have put forward many advanced theories and methods, such as observers based on the extended Kalman filter [3] [4], the high-frequency signal injection method, the algebraic method [5], the Sliding-mode methods [6] [7]. However, since the PMSM is a complex system with characteristics of variable parameters and strong coupling, these algorithms mentioned above mostly have limitations for practical application.…”
