Parameter independent speed estimation technique for PMSM drive in electric vehicle

Abstract: Summary This paper presents a simple parameter independent speed estimation algorithm for vector‐controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive. The speed estimation algorithm is formed using modified X‐MRAS (modified fictitious quantity model reference adaptive system), independent of machine parameter, integrator, and differentiator terms. Any variation in the machine parameters will not affect the presented speed/position estimation algorithm. The speed sensorless method makes the drive more com… Show more

“…Due to the high-power density and efciency, permanent magnet synchronous motor has been widely used in industrial felds [1]. To meet motor's long-term and high-speed operation needs, the magnetic bearing technology is widely developed [2,3], but it still has problems such as high-power consumption of magnetic suspension on and limited critical speed [3].…”

“…Currently, the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for electric vehicles has garnered attention from both scholars and manufacturers [1,2]. The operational stability and safety of electric vehicles rely heavily on the speed regulation (specifically, speed stability) and anti-disturbance performance of the PMSM.…”

“…The PI-based MRAS methods, which are based on active power, reactive power, or fictitious quantity, were presented in the literature by the authors of [14][15][16]. These methods operate independently from machine parameters like inductance, resistance, or flux, depending on the strategy.…”
