Parameterization dependence ofT-matrix poles and eigenphases from a fit toπNelastic scattering data

Abstract: We compare fits to πN elastic scattering data, based on a Chew-Mandelstam K-matrix formalism. Resonances, characterized by T -matrix poles, are compared in fits generated with and without explicit Chew-Mandelstam K-matrix poles. Diagonalization of the S matrix yields the eigenphase representation. While the eigenphases can vary significantly for the different parameterizations, the locations of most T -matrix poles are relatively stable.

“…[10]. This represents the world database on the reactions πN → ηN, KΛ, and KΣ up to E ∼ 2.3 GeV, plus the πN → πN WI08 energydependent solution of the GWU/INS SAID group [60]. In addition, we include almost all published data on pion photoproduction off the proton up to E ∼ 2.3 GeV, with some forward regions at high energy excluded [51].…”

“…Since the average presented by the PDG is affected by a large errorbar, which will leave the region near Q 2 = 0 weakly constrained, we take into account only the most recent measurements selected by PDG, presented in Refs. [37,38].…”

“…Given that the long-range contributions are entirely determined by πN physics, πN scattering provides the cleanest access and offers, at least for most LECs, also the highest sensitivity for their extraction. However, such a program has been hampered by inconsistencies in the low-energy πN data base, as exemplified by contradicting partial-wave analyses, the Karlsruhe-Helsinki [28,29] and the GWU/SAID solutions [30].…”
