This review discusses the roles played by natural CD4+ CD25+ regulatory T cells (natural Tregs) during parasitic infections. Natural Tregs may limit the magnitude of effector responses, which may result in failure to adequately control infection. However, natural Tregs also help to limit collateral tissue damage caused by vigorous antimicrobial immune responses. We discuss the hypothesis that parasites have evolved means to manipulate the host's natural Treg population, thereby generating conditions that secure survival in their vertebrate host for an extended period of time.

Qualitative research methods are essential to provide richness, but they are vulnerable to distortion of data by theory. The quantitative approach is necessary for the precision of hypothesis testing, but, by itself, this method is too critical to be creative. Religious studies should use both methods in alternate phases, with the qualitative approach creating new hypotheses and the quantitative approach critically testing them.

We herein report a case with multifocal cysticercosis – sub-conjunctival cysticercus cyst, sub-retinal cysticercosis, and neurocysticercosis in a child. The optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings of the sub-retinal cysticercus cyst are reported. He was treated with anti-helminthic drugs and oral prednisolone followed by surgical removal of the sub-retinal cyst. He subsequently underwent silicone oil removal with lens aspiration and intraocular lens implantation maintaining stable vision
