Parentage analysis of tropical spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus) by microsatellite markers

Abstract: have contributed equally to the work. AbstractParentage analysis is of vital importance for hatchery production and breeding programmes. Two multiplex PCR protocols including seven tropical spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus) microsatellites (Pho-G06, Pho-G25, Pho-G53, Pho-G62, Pho-G74, Pho-G89 and Pho-G100) were introduced for parentage assignment. All loci were polymorphic with allele sizes from 113 to 337 base pairs (bp), observed alleles (k) from two to seven and polymorphic information content (PIC) of 0.25… Show more

“…In order to meet the market demand, larvae are captured from the wild and reared artificially [6][7][8][9][10][11]. Current research on this species encompasses a range of topics, including breeding practices [6], nutritional analysis [7], capture techniques [8,9], resource assessment [9][10][11], habitat studies [12], physiological characteristics [13][14][15], disease management [16,17], and genomics [18][19][20]. Despite these advancements, the impact of lighting conditions on scalloped spiny lobsters remains relatively underexplored.…”
