Parenteral Vs Enteral Nutrition as an Improvement in Wound Healing in the Severely Burned Patient in the ICU

Abstract

Objective: To compare parenteral vs enteral nutrition improves wound healing in the severely burned patient in the Adult Intensive Care Unit.Methodology: Search strategies were carried out from eight databases, finding a total of 63 articles, of which ten were selected through the use of templates for the analysis of clinical trials and systematic reviews, with the use of the program " Critical Appraisal Skills Program "(CASPe). To synthesize the evidence found, the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) scale was used to assess and establish the grades of recommendation according to the level of evidence.Results: Parenteral nutrition meets the necessary requirements to be able to nourish the burned patient, being considered the first option, however it is necessary to provide a nutritional contribution in a timely manner to obtain the desired results. Conclusions:It is recommended to start parenteral nutrition in relation to enteral, for wound healing.
