“…This is disappointing, because poor oral health is associated with a decrease in quality of life. 6 Since people with PD have more oral diseases, 7,8 reduced oral functioning, and more orofacial pain than their healthy peers, 9 Verhoeff et al call for action by medical doctors and dentists to increase their research focus on the topic of oral health in PD, to improve each other's education on this topic, and, importantly, to pay more attention to oral health in their PD patients. 10 Based on the above, it is clear that medical doctors and dentists engaging in a better collaboration is crucial for the collection of novel scientific evidence related to oral health in PD, for better education of (future) medical and dental professionals, and ultimately for the best possible care for PD patients.…”
