Parque das Conchas (BC-10) - Delivery of Deepwater Extended Reach Wells in a Low Fracture Gradient Setting

Abstract: Delivering wells capable of high rate and high ultimate recovery heavy oil is one of the key requirements for success of the Ultra-deepwater Parque das Conchas development in block BC-10, Campos Basin, Brazil. This paper presents the Parque das Conchas well design to achieve these objectives while tackling key challenges such as shallow reservoir setting below mud line and low fracture gradient setting. It explains fabrication and final preparation efforts followed by a detailed description o… Show more

“…In order to meet practical deadlines, we selected one realization to detail. Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) measures come in many forms, but a summary of recent work commissioned by the US government and the non-profit industry group RPSEA (Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America) highlights the most relevant processes for increasing ultimate recovery in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico (DW GoM) as infill wells, fluid injection, AL, and selective completions (Lach and Longmuir 2010). Also, the work recognizes that DW GoM development typically progresses in phases (e.g.…”

“…The field is operated by Shell with a 50% equity share, with Joint Venture partners ONGC 27% and Qatar Petroleum International 23%. See references [1][2][3] for more details. The Ostra accumulation is located on top of a salt dome and the trap is formed by a complex faulted four-way dip closure.…”
