“…In this study, the higher MF and IF, the lowered EF and the prolonged ML, IL, EL and PEI in the male rats after paroxetine treatment are indications of sexual behaviour inhibitory effects of the drug and induction of sexual dysfunction in the male rats. The minimum change of 25% on all the male sexual behaviour parameters indicate that the animals have not only been induced with sexual dysfunction but have also satisfied the minimum requirements for the male rats to be declared as having sexual dysfunction (Kayode & Yakubu, ; Malviya et al., ). The most appreciable reduction of 86.16% on EF by paroxetine suggests that the number of ejaculation was the most affected by the drug.…”

“…In male rats, sexual behaviour or sexual competence is evaluated by assessing both the number and temporal display of mounts, intromissions and ejaculations when paired with receptive (oestrus or ovariectomised) female rats (Agmo, ; Kayode & Yakubu, ; Yakubu & Jimoh, ). Drugs and plant extracts can thus be tested to determine their beneficial or detrimental effects on the frequencies and latencies of these male sexual behaviour parameters.…”
